Josue Perez Campos, 2015 graduate of Lewisville ISD’s Lewisville High School was awarded the Tom Cooper and Alan MacMorran Scholarship through LEF’s scholarship program last spring.
“Having the opportunity to receive a LEF scholarship makes me feel relieved to not have to worry that much about all the materials and supplies I have to buy for my projects,” Perez Campos said. “Thanks to the scholarships that I received from LEF I have been able to dedicate more time to my studies. I was able to reduce the Work Study contribution from my financial aid package.”
Perez Campos now attends Cornell University. “I am majoring in architecture at Cornell University. I’ve been taking classes only related to my major,” he told LEF. “Architecture is a very intensive major, so I haven’t been able to participate in many extracurricular activities. I’m part of the Cornell University Sustainable Design team, the American Institute of Architecture Students and the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students.”
LEF works with local booster clubs and PTAs to administer scholarships, and is home to endowed scholarships designed to honor the memory or legacy of those who play a role in student success in LISD.
Perez Campos is clearly the architect of achievement! His plans are to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and go to graduate school to earn a Masters in Environmental Design at a top design school.
All LISD seniors should apply. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 29, 2016, at 4:30 pm.
Applicants will be notified via email in April as to the status of their application. Those selected will be invited to participate in LEF’s annual Awards Night on May 9 at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, where benefactors will be on hand to present awards.
