Faith Bell, 2015 graduate of Lewisville ISD’s Flower Mound High School, was awarded the Jo Haney Special Education Scholarship through LEF’s scholarship program last spring.
“When I think about getting this scholarship I feel very proud,” Bell said. “I think about the day when my mom found out I received it and how happy it made her. It felt good knowing that my hard work throughout high school was being recognized.”
Bell now attends the University of Arkansas. “I am a full time student now at the University Of Arkansas, and I joined the Phi Mu sorority,” she said. “I absolutely love it here. My goal is to become a recreational therapist so I can work with special needs kids and help them with any physical disability they have.”
She certainly appreciates the help she received from LEF. “The money helps. College is expensive and any amount of money is super helpful.”
LEF works with local booster clubs and PTAs to administer scholarships, and is home to endowed scholarships designed to honor the memory or legacy of those who play a role in student success in LISD.
Applicants will be notified via email in April as to the status of their application. Those selected will be invited to participate in LEF’s annual Awards Night on May 9, at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, where benefactors will be on hand to present awards.
