The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017 winner of the Ted Barnes Award for Excellence in Education: Holly Witter of LHS Harmon.

Witter, a ninth-grade English and Pre-AP English teacher, has taught in the LISD for 16 years and been an educator for 22 years in total.

This year, Witter’s unique approach has led to technological discovery for her students. She had her students utilize the Audioboom app in building poetry keepsake binders. She also organized a school-wide reading initiative, the first ever at LHS Harmon, that took high school readers to read to students at Parkway Elementary. The story of the program’s success was written across the faces of the students.

This award was established by Ted Barnes, who taught at Lewisville High School for 25 years. At the request of Mr. Barnes before his passing, the honorarium is awarded to a current Lewisville High School teacher or administrator who has served LISD for at least 10 years, demonstrating outstanding educational service.

CONGRATULATIONS MS. WITTER!
