Tenth Annual LEF Golf Classic Declared a Hit

Lewisville ISD Education Foundation Raises More than $70,000 for LISD

The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) partnered with Bright Wealth Management and The Lakes at Castle Hills to put on one of the best golf tournaments the community has ever seen. The 10th Annual LEF Golf Classic presented by Bright Wealth Management raised more than $70,000 for students and teachers of Lewisville ISD.

“We cannot express our thanks enough to Bright Wealth Management, The Lakes at Castle Hills and all of the sponsors and golfers who participated in our event this year,” said LEF Executive Director Connie Pelphrey. “With their support and the great work of the LEF golf committee and volunteers, this year’s golf tournament was the best one yet.”

For LISD Superintended Dr. Kevin Rogers, the true value of LEF’s Golf Classic is providing support for the students and teachers of the district.

“It’s a great way to get people in our community involved with something that is associated with LISD and with LEF. This is one of the bigger fundraisers of the year for LEF, and it’s a great opportunity to pour back into our kids and our teachers,” said Rogers.

In addition to community support, former Dallas Cowboys Patrick Crayton and Jason Hatcher also supported the cause for scholarships and teacher grants. Participating in a new feature of the LEF Golf Classic – Birdie Island – Crayton and Hatcher mingled with golfers and sponsors while also providing their time to be auctioned off for a round of golf with each of them at The Lakes at Castle Hills.

Callaway provided an Exclusive Merchandise Room for every participating golfer and put on demonstrations of the brand’s top equipment. In-N-Out Burger also provided the restaurant’s famous burgers and drinks for brunch to get the day started. That was just a sampling of the fun at the 2018 LEF Golf Classic.

Dan Irvin of Garland Heart, and a graduate of Marcus High School who came up through Lewisville ISD, raved about the golfer’s experience.

“It’s incredible to have an opportunity for our organization to support LISD like this. For me, personally, to support a district that gave so much to me is certainly something I’m happy to do every year,” Irvin said. “It’s awesome to be at a beautiful course like this, where I’ve never played a tournament before. I’ve never seen some of the things LEF has done. It’s just incredible and a great experience.”

Independent Bank’s team of Tom Heslep, Jack Tokarczyk, Zac Fearing, and Matt Brost won

This year, Independent Bank’s team of Tom Heslep, Jack Tokarczyk, Zac Fearing, and Matt Brost took home first place in the tournament.

For those golfers wondering what 2019 will bring for the LEF Golf Classic, look for another great experience, according to Jason Daly, PGA Director of Golf at The Lakes at Castle Hills.

“The club is a big part of Lewisville. A lot of our members have children in LISD so it’s great to be able to support it. We’re happy to have the event and look forward to it for years to come.”
