Hannah Conrad, 2015 graduate of Lewisville ISD’s The Colony High School, was awarded the TCHS PTSA Scholarship through LEF’s scholarship program last spring.
“Getting the scholarship from LEF made me feel like LISD truly cared about helping me obtain the education I wanted,” Conrad said. “It feels great to know that there are people who support me and care about my future.”
Conrad now attends Baylor University. “Right now I’m in mostly basic classes like chemistry and statistics,” she told LEF. “But soon I’ll be in classes like anatomy and physiology, that pertain more to my major, Nursing. I am also involved with Baylor Youth Ministry Teams, my residence hall worship team, and National Student Nursing Association (NSNA).”
It sounds like her college experience has a healthy mix of academics and extra-curriculars. “I was able to use the scholarship money to pay for all of my books for the first semester,” Conrad said. “Because of this, I had extra money to go towards church and school events, and was able to worry less about how I would pay for certain things.”
LEF works with local booster clubs and PTAs to administer scholarships, and is home to endowed scholarships designed to honor the memory or legacy of those who play a role in student success in LISD.
LEF is proud of Conrad’s success thus far and is honored to be a small part of it! LEF will have a similar role in LISD’s 2016 graduates’ future: The scholarship application is open now at lisdef.com.
All LISD seniors should apply. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 29, 2016, at 4:30 pm.
Applicants will be notified via email in April as to the status of their application. Those selected will be invited to participate in LEF’s annual Awards Night on May 9, at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, where benefactors will be on hand to present awards.
