A Letter from LEF Executive Director, Thomas White

I often say it takes an entire community to create quality public education. Now, in a time of uncertainty, we find that to be even more true and we are ready to not only face this current challenge but to also use it as a time to explore what works best for our teachers, students, and parents. At the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, we stand at the ready to support the many great people in our community and to emerge from this situation better than we were before it.

In light of the ever-evolving situation caused by the COVID virus, we have made a few changes to our spring schedule, including canceling our annual scholarship ceremony and postponing the LEF Golf Classic. We are making the best decisions possible to protect the health of everyone involved in these events, but we are not removing the sense of belonging and support these events have represented over the years. As conditions improve over the coming months, we will continue to adapt and reassess our events to safeguard the value we place on our community.

We want you to know how much we appreciate your past, present, and future support. Because of you, we can maintain a level of operation that will continue to enrich what the Lewisville Independent School District can offer during a time of crisis.

We are excited to continue our teacher grant application process and invite as many teachers as possible to apply for a grant that will transform their new innovative curriculum developments into a reality next year. Moving teaching from a traditional, in-person classroom setting to a digital space has sparked some great ideas. My kids are benefiting from the efforts of their teachers. I am thrilled to support them and all LISD teachers through this grant process. We will celebrate their success this fall when we announce the grant recipients.

I am grateful to call you a partner in our mission to advance education and build a community that believes in investing in our future quality of life. This is a tremendous opportunity, and we are grateful you have trusted us to help create opportunities for every LISD teacher and student.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at whitet@lisd.net or follow us on social media for the latest news and announcements. If you would like to learn how you can get involved during this time either through donations, sponsorships, or event volunteering, please let me know, and we will work to help you make a difference today.
