LEF Raises $140K+ for Lewisville ISD

Lewisville ISD Education Foundation’s Evening for Education Raises More than $140,000

The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) raised more than $140,000 for students across southern Denton County at this year’s Evening for Education – 1 TEAM 1 DREAM Saturday night. The event featured NBCDFW anchor Kris Gutierrez – a Lewisville Independent School District alumnus – and legendary sports anchor Dale Hansen.

“This year’s event demonstrated the deep commitment this community has to support quality public education across the district,” said LEF Executive Director Tommy White. “I am grateful to the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made the night a success. I cannot thank everyone enough.”

LEF changed up the annual event this year with a football theme that led to the best tailgate in town. Patrons of the event were able to watch the football game between Texas and LSU while sampling more than 20 restaurants throughout the event at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville.

With the focus on football, LEF recognized Lewisville High School’s 1996 State Championship football team – a fun part of the night for Gutierrez, a 1995 graduate of LHS. More recognition came for the five high schools as LHS, Hebron High, Flower Mound High, The Colony High, and Marcus High all brought student representatives from band, drill team, cheer, and more to complete the high school football aesthetic of this year’s Evening for Education.

Dale Hansen held court for VIPs at the event with a fun question & answer session that covered highlights of his career in the DFW area.

Through raffling off 15 “Rally Packages”, a live auction, and numerous games and extras throughout the event, LEF raised more than $140,000 for Lewisville ISD, a district that ranges across Lewisville, Flower Mound, Carrollton, Frisco, Plano, The Colony, Highland Village, and more. The district educates more than 50,000 students in nearly 70 campuses across 13 communities.

LEF’s mission is to raise support for student scholarships and teacher grants in Lewisville ISD, enriching the quality of public education and promoting the pursuit of learning. In August, LEF awarded $100,000 in teacher grants to follow $225,000 awarded in 330 scholarships in May 2019.
