LEF Executive Director Announces Retirement
Lewisville ISD Education Foundation Executive Director Connie Pelphrey Plans to Retire at Close of 2019
Connie Pelphrey, longtime Executive Director of the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, has announced her plans to retire at the close of 2019.
“I’m thankful to the great board members we’ve had on the LEF Board of Directors in my time as Executive Director,” Pelphrey said. “Without them and support from the LISD administration and staff, LEF wouldn’t have been able to support the students and teachers of Lewisville ISD at the levels we have.”
The Board of Directors, however, recognizes the direct impact Pelphrey has had on LEF as Executive Director.
“Connie Pelphrey has been an integral part of LEF for nearly 15 years, and the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation made great strides under Connie’s leadership as Executive Director,” said LEF Board President Michelle Cree.
“We can’t thank her enough for all that she has been able to do for the students and teachers of Lewisville ISD in her time at the helm of LEF. We wish her happiness in retirement.”
Serving as Executive Director for more than 14 years, Pelphrey led the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation through unprecedented growth.
In 2005, when Pelphrey took position at LEF, the foundation awarded $20,000 in teacher grants and $68,450 in student scholarships. After her first year, those numbers immediately improved by nearly 20 percent to a combined $106,874, and Pelphrey would continue to grow LEF from there.
To illustrate her impact during her tenure, just last year the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation awarded $92,780 in teacher grants and $212,750 in scholarships for LISD’s graduating seniors. This year, LEF will look to award more than $228,000 in scholarships alone.
The LEF Board of Directors has begun a nationwide search to fill the position of Executive Director for the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation. All interested applicants can apply on the Teacher Job Network.
