Erin Hisey, 2015 graduate of Lewisville ISD’s Marcus High School, was awarded the Chester Boyd Honorary Scholarship through LEF’s scholarship program last spring.
“When I think about the scholarship I received last year, I remember all of the fun times I had on the horse judging trips throughout high school,” Hisey said.
Hisey now attends the University of California, Davis. “The scholarship I received has helped me pay for textbooks and course fees in my first quarter here at UCD,” Hisey told LEF.
LEF works with local booster clubs and PTAs to administer scholarships, and is home to endowed scholarships designed to honor the memory or legacy of those who play a role in student success in LISD.
Hisey’s success is ongoing: With plans to become an equine veterinarian, she is an undergraduate student majoring in animal science. Additionally she participates in the intramural sports program as a member of a volleyball team, serves as the freshmen representative of the Regents Scholars Society and is a member of the pre-vet club on campus.
LEF is glad to have a small role in her success. LEF will have a similar role in LISD’s 2016 graduates’ future: The scholarship application is open now at lisdef.com/apply.
All LISD seniors should apply. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 29, 2016, at 4:30 pm.
Applicants will be notified via email in April as to the status of their application. Those selected will be invited to participate in LEF’s annual Awards Night on May 9 at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, where benefactors will be on hand to present awards.
