Reggie Evans, 2015 graduate of Lewisville ISD’s Hebron High School, was awarded the Hebron High School Football Booster Club Scholarship through LEF’s scholarship program last spring.

“I feel honored and grateful to receive this scholarship because I know it’s limited and a lot of great and talented guys are trying and hoping to get it,” Evans said. “The fact that I received it over some of the other athletes that applied for it just completely shocked me and I just feel really blessed and thankful for it.”

Evans now attends Austin College. “I have just wrapped up my first college semester of mostly basic or introductory classes, and currently I am planning out a more challenging, major-based Spring semester,” he told LEF. “I am in football at my school, which takes up much of my free time (But I’m not complaining!). This spring I plan to get a job somewhere on campus to help my loan payments and just to keep me busy. At least until spring football rolls back around.”

He’s working from a playbook that should generate success. “With the money I received from this scholarship, I was able to get all my books for the semester paid for and I was also able to knock off a few hundred dollars off of my overall tuition/loans expenses for the semester as well,” Evans said. “Because of that, I was able to use some of the money I had saved up over the summer for other things such as off campus food, dorm room necessities, and some clothes for the season change.  It really made things a lot easier for me.”

LEF works with local booster clubs and PTAs to administer scholarships, and is home to endowed scholarships designed to honor the memory or legacy of those who play a role in student success in LISD.

LEF is proud of Evans’ success thus far and is honored to be a small part of it! LEF will have a similar role in LISD’s 2016 graduates’ future: The scholarship application is open now at lisdef.com.

All LISD seniors should apply. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, January 29, 2016, at 4:30 pm.

Applicants will be notified via email in April as to the status of their application. Those selected will be invited to participate in LEF’s annual Awards Night on May 9, at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, where benefactors will be on hand to present awards.
