Honoring an Educator and Advocate

Fred taught at Marcus High School where he was named Teacher of the Year in 1997. He joined the Lewisville ISD school board in 1998 on which he shared his passion for public education by advocating for our students and families and remained on the board until 2010. For 37 years, Fred organized The New Horizons Placke Christmas Party, which provided Christmas for more than 100 Children a year. Fred was a bigger than life personality and a tireless advocate for public schools, and especially LISD. He was a friend and mentor to many, and our community will certainly miss him on many levels.

Thank you for your help in honoring Fred’s legacy.  His impact will be felt for generations to come through the Fred O. Placke III Memorial Scholarship. You can make a gift to honor Fred through the button below.
