Texas Legends Offer Support for LEF Teacher Grants

On January 21, 2012, the Dr Pepper arena bustled with excited fans from LISD during LEF Night with the Texas Legends.  Campuses competed for "Most Tickets Sold" with the winning campuses recognized as Legends of the Night during halftime.  The elementary, middle and high school campus awarded that honor were:

Hicks Elementary School

Lamar Middle School

Lewisville High School

The Texas Legends organization kept the evening fun and interative with multiple opportunities for student (and parent) participation.  Local Daisy and Boy Scout troops manned the High Five Tunnel and Starting Line Up to help welcome and cheer on the Texas Legends basketball team members.  Bungee basketball, a Nissan car race and student fashion show also added to the fun.  To add to the fun, four Marcus basketball players took center court to play "Name That Tune!"

A big LEF "Thank You!" to our wonderful LISD student groups for their participation.  From pre-game through halftime, LISD shone brightly through the enthusiasm and efforts of its students.  What a treat to have each of our feeder systems so finely represented at the game!  Student participants included the:

The Colony High School JROTC - Presentation of Colors

Lewisville High School Choir - National Anthem

Flower Mound High School Cheerleaders - Performances and Cheers during Time-out Periods

Marcus High School Basketball Team and Coach - Recognition and Interview at Halftime

Hebron High School Silver Wings Drill Team - Halftime Performance

Pam Nelson, LEF Vice President of Program Allocations and Community Volunteer, added, "I commend all these high school students that came out to make this event a success!  The group I was with had a great time."

In support of LEF Teacher Grants, the Texas Legends Basketball organization made a $200 donation to support excellence in classroom teaching.
