Tee Off for Education Raises $36,800 for Students & Teachers

GolfTeam-2011LEF’s 3rd annual Tee Off for Education golf tournament was held Thursday, June 16, at The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony.  Tee Off for Education raised a total of $36,800 this year with 105 golfers competing for top honors. Golfers enjoyed breakfast at the club and lunch compliments of Abuelo's, as well as gift bags brimming with goodies.

A chance to win amazing prizes also was part of the fun.  Several lucky golfers walked away with prizes including:

  • Two Round Trip Tickets on Southwest Airlines - Compliments of Southwest Airlines
  • A Calloway Driver - Compliments of Wright Construction
  • Rounds of Golf - Compliments of The Tribute Golf Club
  • Rounds of Golf - Compliments of Adam Peterson

And a special congratulations to Jim Custer, Larry Gay, Bruce Martin and Gary Matthews on their team's first place win!

New to the this year’s event was the addition of the helicopter golf ball drop, which provided golfers and non-golfers alike a unique and fun opportunity to win a cash prize of $1,000.  At 1:00 p.m., the helicopter flew over the 18th hole and released 199 marked golf balls.

Watch the Golf Ball Drop Video!

Michelle Cree purchased the ball that fell closest to hole and won the $1,000 prize.  Michelle Cree, Cathy Turner, Bruce Martin, Cindy Stephenson and Sarah Houdek each won $100 in a random selection of five other balls.

This event has become the second largest fundraiser for the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation behind Evening for Education: A Culinary Experience.

Special thanks to our sponsors, including presenting sponsor Charter Builders. We couldn't have done it without you!
