Patsy Buck: Friend of LEF Remembered
Patsy Jane Creel Buck, long-time supporter of LEF, recently passed away, but her legacy of love and support for education will long be remembered.
Lewisville, TX, October 19, 2009: On October 8, 2009, we lost a great friend. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Patsy Jane Creel Buck was not only a friend to LEF but also an inspiring champion of education.
Patsy lived a life of passion and gave 100% of herself in each role that she played. While a partner in Quivira Homes and Buck Properties, she also served for a time as headmistress of Merryhaven Montessori. The Merryhaven teachers were lifelong friends whose love and support never wavered.
While her passions included Day Stay for Adults, education, politics, and books, at the heart of her spirit was gardening, where she lovingly nurtured both plants and people. She celebrated 72 springs and 72 falls during her lifetime, and seeds of love and laughter were planted among her friends and family. Her green thumb brought forth not only a beautiful garden but also three wonderful children who she tended and coaxed to grow and prosper. Her eight grandchildren have been lucky enough to learn from her and share in her extraordinary laughter.
Patsy is loved and missed by many, but none more than her best friend, soul mate, and surviving husband of 50 years, Carl Buck. Their many adventures to Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and New Zealand pale to the excitement of their daily joy of time together.
Survivors include daughter Rowena McReynolds and her husband Jeff; son Alex Buck and his wife Mary Beth; daughter Carla Buck and her husband Jack Levy; and eight grandchildren: Sasha, Ana, & Masha McReynolds; Emmy, Adlaine and Eiler Buck; and Spencer and Zander Levy.
A celebration of her life was held Friday, October 23, at 11:30 am at Celebrations in Lewisville where friends and family gathered to pay tribute to a life well-lived and loved. Donations will be accepted in her honor by the LISD Education Foundation either by mail at
P.O. Box 643, Lewisville, Texas 75067 or online.
The Buck Family extends many thanks to the wonderful friends, doctors, and nurses who not only made her so comfortable but also lifted up her family, especially those with Home Helpers. It is the family’s wish that everyone can one day experience love and acceptance as they did through their matriarch, Patsy Buck.
