LEF AWARDS $20,000 TO LISD TEACHERS FOR INNOVATIVE TEACHER GRANTS


November 30, 2005 Lewisville, Texas -- During LISD campus staff meetings, you could here shrieks and cheers as Board Members of the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) awarded 29 Innovative Teacher Grants to 65 teachers on 22 campuses in the Lewisville School District. Grants were awarded to 18 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle Schools and 3 High Schools. Awards were valued between $378 and $1,000.

To be eligible 42 teachers or teams of teachers completed the Foundation's new online application. Lewisville ISD Education Foundation awards Innovative Teacher Grants for projects that enhance and augment educational opportunities for students and teachers in the Lewisville Independent School District . Community volunteers review the applications blindly and awarded grants based on established donor criteria. LEF Teacher Grants provide an opportunity for creative teaching approaches and innovative projects to be introduced in the classroom. LEF funds only projects that meet district curriculum guidelines and are not funded through district budgets. Grant applications are accepted once a year. This year's deadline for submission was September 9, 2005.
