Shadow ridge Middle School PTA creates $10,000 endowment scholarship with the Lewisville Isd education foundation

Shadow Ridge Middle School PTA honors retiring principal, Gary Goldsmith, by establishing an honorary scholarship in his name with the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation.

Lewisville, TX, May 22, 2008: On May 13, 2008, the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) was pleased to accept a check for $10,000 from the Shadow Ridge Middle School PTA in Flower Mound to establish a scholarship in honor of their principal, Gary Goldsmith. Mr. Goldsmith, a long-time Lewisville resident and graduate of Lewisville High School, decided to retire at the end of this school year after an illustrious thirty-two year career with the Lewisville Independent School District. Having managed PTA funds efficiently during the three years that Shadow Ridge Middle School has been open, the PTA Executive Board, with consent of Shadow Ridge PTAs general membership, approved the decision to use their funds to create a fully-endowed scholarship to honor Mr. Goldsmith. “We are very excited to offer this scholarship for SRMS students and at the same time honor the first principal of our school,” stated PTA President Michelle McDaniel. Available next year to graduating seniors from Flower Mound High School, the scholarship is designated for students who also attended Shadow Ridge Middle School and maintained membership in the respective PTA/PTSAs.

Creating a fully-endowed scholarship fund ensures that a scholarship of at least $500 will be awarded each year in perpetuity to an eligible Flower Mound High School senior for continuing education. The Lewisville ISD Education Foundation oversees the selection process and selects students from qualified applicants matching the respective criteria established by donors. Additional donations can be made to the Gary Goldsmith/Shadow Ridge Middle School PTA Honorary Scholarship. Donations by mail can be sent to the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation, P.O. Box 643, Lewisville, TX 75067 with a designation on the memo line specifying the appropriate endowment fund. To donate online, simply visit the LEF website . All donations to LEF are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

In existence since 1990, the Lewisville ISD Education Foundation (LEF) is a passionate group of community volunteers dedicated to investing in the future of our children. LEF is a public, non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation that raises money to encourage innovative teaching and higher education for the 13 cities served by LISD. From its inception, LEF has awarded over $1,158,836 in different program areas and given $818,525 in senior scholarships 1,417 students. Every student needs a good foundation – Come help us build it!
