2008 Evening for Education: A Culinary Experience Nets $85,000 in Support of LISD Students and Teachers

An Evening for Education took on a twist this year with the addition of a “Culinary Experience.” Replacing the traditional sit down, dinner event, LEF revamped the format and invited restaurants from around the area to participate with tastings of their signature dishes. The evening was a HUGE success raising approximately $85,000 (an organizational best) to support the students and teachers of LISD!

In spite of ominous weather predictions that threatened attendance, An Evening for Education: a Culinary Experience welcomed approximately 400 guests who enjoyed the evening sampling culinary treats, sipping complimentary mojitos, and bidding on fabulous silent, big board, and live auction items. A wine pull and reverse raffle also added to the festivities and fun when a $25 chance held the possibility of yielding a $400 bottle of 1989 Mouten-Rothschild and a $4,900 diamond bracelet, respectively.

Nineteen local restaurants offered their support by treating guests to generous helpings of their finest cuisine. Guest enjoyed everything from Mexican to Italian, Prime Rib to Barbeque, Dessert, and everything in between! And when the night was complete, guests left happy and full!
