Healing is a matter of time, but it is sometimes also a matter of opportunity.

About Adiyl Mir

Adiyl Antonio Mir was born in San Francisco on March 1, 1990. Son of Saddiq Mir, an immigrant from Pakistan, and Linda Mir, from Monterey, California, he always strived to please. He had both a passion and zest for life, and his smile and enthusiasm were contagious.

Adiyl (meaning justice) grew up with great respect for family, friends, and different cultures. He was kind, loving, caring, and greatly adored by his younger brother Adam. His friends describe him as a sincere, loyal individual who would give the shirt off his back to help them. He was honest and fun to be around and he made his mom and dad extremely proud.

A student at Flower Mound High School, Adiyl's happy and energy-driven life came to an abrupt end with a fatal car accident on January 20, 2008. We now have only wonderful memories of a life well-lived and a boy much admired!

From Adiyl's family and Opportunities for the Future

Adiyl's tragedy touched our live in many ways. Adiyl's unconditional love for his family and extraordinary care for his friends inspired us to create a Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund with LEF. It is our intention to not only keep Adiyl's legacy alive but also recognize and reward other young, less fortunate students, who exhibit the same fine qualities that made Adiyl so very special. Through our family's continued support of LEF and Adiyl's endowment fund, Adiyl's legacy will continue to light the way.

Golf Tournament in Las Vegas

In addition to the money that was initially contributed to create the endowed scholarship, the first annual Memorial Scholarship Educational Fundraiser at Rio Secco Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada was held in August. This event raised $13,000. We are blessed by the event's success. The golf tournament was sold out, and we had two NFL celebrities - Hall of famer Eric Dickerson (Atlanta Falcons) and Lawrence Taylor (New York Giants) – who participated by signing autographs for attendees.

We are honored to have the support of the Epicurean Charitable Foundation and Rio Sacco Golf Club and appreciate their assistance in raising funds for Adiyl's Memorial Scholarship Endowment to reward less fortunate students.
